Here are some of the video-related applications for Mac OS which I cannot live without:

QuickTime Player

Company: Apple

License: Free (29.99$ Pro version)

Usage: main video player

QuickTime is a multimedia framework developed by Apple, capable of handling various formats of digital video, media clips, sound, text, animation, music, and several types of interactive panoramic images. The free QuickTime Player is limited to only the most basic playback operations. The Pro version unlocks additional features of the QuickTime Player application on Mac OS X or Windows, such as video editing functions and saving or exporting (encoding) to any of the codecs supported by QuickTime. 

VLC Media Player

License: Free

Usage: secondary video player (files which I cannot play with QuickTime)

VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, ...) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It can also be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network.

 Real Player

Company: RealNetworks

License: Free

Usage: Player for RealNetworks media files

RealPlayer is a proprietary cross-platform media player by RealNetworks that plays a number of multimedia formats including MP3, MPEG-4, QuickTime, Windows Media, and multiple versions of proprietary RealAudio and RealVideo formats.

QT_TOOLS

Company: David Van Brink

License: Free

Usage: automatically convert files (e.g. .avi -> .mov)

QT_TOOLS is a small suite of Mac OS X command line tools for dealing with QuickTime movies.

SnapNDrag

Company: YellowMug

License: Free (4.95$ Pro version)

Usage: take quick screenshots and drag them to wherever

SnapNDrag lets you take a screenshot by just clicking a button and dragging the resulting screenshot off. For example, to email a screenshot, you would drag the screenshot from SnapNDrag to the Mail application. The Pro version allows you to turn off the sponsor messages.

iShowU

License: $20

Usage: screencasts

iShowU allows capture of video from your screen, in realtime. Everything on the screen is there to help you do this fast and easily, and with no complex process to get in your way.

Introducing PhotoBlog for Aperture

PhotoBlog for Aperture is an Aperture export plugin which allows you to send your photos directly from Apple's Aperture to a MovableType blog.

I did not test the plugin with other blogging systems, but it should be compatible with others, such as TypePad, Blojsom or WordPress.

Installation

Unzip the plugin and copy it to ~/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/Export.

Create the directories if necessary.

Version History

Version 0.2 (current)
Server and username are saved in a preference plist file.
Password is saved in keychain.
Added donation button (please donate).
Images are saved into different directories on server based on base category name.
Temporary files are now saved in a temporary folder that is being erased when export finishes.
